Per diem teachers had a lot to discuss at their Dec. 12 general meeting at UFT headquarters. New members were especially interested in Special Representative for Personnel Amy Arundell’s outline of the avenues available to per diems to help them find jobs. Attendees passed motions requesting that the UFT explore group health insurance for UFT per diem members and establish an objective due-process procedure, with arbitration, for all cases of hiring and firing.
