Tell City Hall you care

Schools across the city are developing activities to dramatize the fact that even though the city has a budget surplus schools are receiving $450 million less than the city had promised. We hope everyone gets involved in those activities.

But members can take action as individuals, as well, and they can get their families and friends to join in the effort. Call 1-800-961-6198 to tell City Hall to restore the $450 million in education aid the city has cut from next year’s classroom budget.

And send a fax to the mayor and to your City Council member. On the UFT Web site, www.uft.org, under Action Alert on the right, click on: Ask the city to keep its promises to kids!

Only if New Yorkers — and many of them — express their concerns will City Hall understand that even in tough times kids shouldn’t be deprived of their one chance for a good education.
