Proud moment

UFT President Randi Weingarten poses with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn after receiving the Douglas W. Jones Community Service Award at the annual Fall Dinner of the Empire State Pride Agenda on Oct. 11 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Manhattan. In accepting the award from the statewide group, which advocates for New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, Weingarten said: “The fight for civil rights and social justice is not a passing fancy for the UFT. It is something that resonates in our very core. It always has been and always will be part of who we are.”
