Chapter Chair Miller welcomes members to the home child care providers meeting.
Now that they are officially UFT members and negotiations have begun for their first contract, home child care providers are building a united, active and effective chapter for their 28,000 members. The newly elected officers of the chapter were introduced at a leadership meeting on April 15 at UFT headquarters. The chapter will be led by Chapter Chair Tammie Miller; Treasurer Patricia Johnson; Vice Chair Gladys Jones; Secretary Stephanie Brade; Joy Locoa, vice chair for family; Shirley Middleton, vice chair for group; Maria Flores, vice chair for informal; and Andrea Royal, vice chair for network. The executive board will include those eight officers and the following chairs, first vice chairs and second vice chairs from each borough: Melvina Vandross, Clemencia Aquino and Maria Varona from the Bronx; Lourdes Lebron, Pat Williams and Juanita Holloway from Brooklyn; Stella Okunola, Margie Diaz and Cheryl Epperson from Queens; Kiahni Willard, Jennie Rivera and Luz Alvarez from Manhattan; and Carolyn Roman, Jacqueline Brooks and Susan Brewer from Staten Island.
Working in groups by borough, (from left) Glen Felix, Second Vice Chair Juanita Holloway, Borough Chair Lourdes Lebron and Betty Lunnon work on Brooklyn provider issues.
