Teachers Network grants: Teachers Network, a nonprofit education organization, is accepting applications for Teachnet Grants. These grants are awarded to current New York City public school teachers, pre-K through 12th grade, who design outstanding curriculum units that integrate the Internet into an original classroom project. Grants will be awarded for exemplary projects composed of at least four lesson plans that involve students with technology in a meaningful and authentic context. Grant recipients receive $500, publication on a premier Web site and are honored at an awards ceremony. DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted now through Nov. 30. Target field trip grants: This year, Target has doubled its Field Trip Grants program to offer students more opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. Target is accepting applications for field trips to take place during the spring of next year. These grants help teachers bring learning to life for students via field trips: 1,600 grants of up to $1,000 each are planned. All educators are eligible. Grant-funded field trips may involve going to visit museums; trips relating to environmental or science projects; outings for artistic and cultural experiences; and taking part in civics or community service projects. Training scholarships available to teachers: The Hear the World Foundation is offering scholarships for U.S. teachers (primarily elementary school teachers) to attend a two-week intensive training program that will teach strategies to integrate students who are hard of hearing into a regular classroom setting. Called the Teach for Better Hearing program, the initiative will ship teachers to Eduplex, a unique school in South Africa opened by Nelson Mandela in 2002. DEADLINE: Dec. 1. CONTACT: Interested applicants should send an e-mail to Sylvia Rothen at sylvia.rothen@phonak.com.

Adopt-a-Classroom grants: Teachers who register at the Adopt-a-Classroom Web site can be adopted by an individual, a business or a foundation. Once adopted, teachers will receive $500 worth of credit to purchase items that enrich the learning environment, including classroom technology. Donors will receive information about the classroom they have adopted, including an itemized list of what teachers bought so donors can see the impact of their contributions.
