Anti-McCain column right on

To the Editor:

I hope all members of our union will pay attention to the excellent article by Tom Pappas, the retired teachers chapter leader, that laid out some of the ways in which John McCain supports the Bush agenda and how McCain’s agenda is directed against all working people. It demonstrated that his “maverick” persona is nothing but propaganda.

In addition to following the Bush agenda on issues of special interest to retirees, McCain also follows Bush on keeping tax cuts for the wealthy, voting for torture, rejecting a woman’s right to choose, denying Iraq veterans and others educational benefits, supporting military options against Iran and the delusional position that victory in Iraq is possible — even if it takes l00 years!

Union members need to keep all this in mind as they ponder a vote for McCain. Don’t be fooled! McCain is no maverick, but just another “business-as-usual” Republican who will undermine all the progressive policies so badly needed to be restored after eight disastrous years of the Bush administration.
