Letters to the Editor

Schools should be closed on Easter Monday

To the Editor:

It has happened again.

Upon review of this year’s calendar, it seems that Easter Monday (the day after Easter Sunday) is not recognized as a holiday on the school calendar and spring recess is determined by the date on which Passover falls.

While we cannot control the dates on which these days occur, we can and should make sure that considerations are made for observers.

Mayor Bloomberg, Chancellor Klein and President Weingarten need to revisit the calendar while it is still early enough.
