Letters to the Editor

No ‘bad guys’ in health care debate

To the Editor:

The opinion article [Sept. 17] from Retired Teachers Chapter Leader Tom Murphy reminds me of a backroom brawler who uses bully power to make his point. In writing about health care reform, he did not have to place anyone whose views differ from his in a “bad guy” category.

Teachers, of all people, know that there are different opinions that can and should be heard. Let’s try not to stoop to the lowest level of discourse. Tom Murphy should be writing in a more sophisticated manner. We are retired teachers, after all.
