Letters to the Editor

‘T’ an endangered species

To the Editor:

As a lover of the English language, and a school retiree, I must apprise you of the “murder” of the English language. It is painful to me and I could scream.

The poor T feels left out.

County becomes coun-y.

Dentist becomes den-ist.

Toronto is Toron-o, and so forth.

There are many more examples, but you get the picture.

From White House personnel to TV anchors, it is appalling. Isn’t it bad enough to hear “off of,” two prepositions?

Herta Neuburger, retired
