Letters to the Editor

Thanks from a principal

Thanks from a principal

To the Editor:

I just want to let you know that I thought your reporter, Ron Isaac, did a great job on the article about IS 318 [‘A true democracy,’ Feb. 28] and the positive working relationship that the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators and the UFT have developed within our educational community.

We have garnered a great deal of positive feedback from principals, teachers, LSO and ISC staff throughout the system. It is amazing that so many think that it is unusual that it is working so well. It is something that we take for granted and just assume that all schools should operate this way.

We thought your reporter did an exceptional job capturing the educational atmosphere that exists within our school. We have posted copies of the article throughout the school and students were proud to see their school in such a positive light. Most of the articles in the newspapers about New York City schools seem so negative.

I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to be highlighted in the UFT’s New York Teacher.

Fred Rubino, principal, IS 318, Brooklyn
