See your monthly check online

In this day and age, every retiree should be getting checks through electronic fund transfer (EFT) which deposits your check directly into your bank account. It is the safest and most secure way to get paid.

If you are on vacation, in the hospital or simply too busy to get to the bank, you can feel secure knowing that EFT has reliably and safely deposited your check in your account so it is available for use. If you are not now paid via EFT because your concern is not being able to see your monthly statement, that concern has been addressed.

You can now see your monthly payment information dating back to April 2007 via a new Payment History feature in the My TRS Account section of the TRS Web site, www.trs.nyc.ny.us. Eventually, you will be able to see up to three years of payment history if you are paid via EFT.

You will see a summary of your retirement allowance under the Qualified Pension Plan (QPP) and, if applicable, annuity payments under the TDA Program when you access Payment History. If you have more than one payment type (i.e., QPP and TDA), you may choose which history to view by selecting from a drop-down menu. By clicking on a “pay period,” you will be able to see the same payment details that appear on your check stubs or EFT Quarterly Statements.

Payments can be viewed approximately one week after the pay date, except for manual, returned, redeposited or on-hold checks.

The Payment History feature also allows you to transfer payment summary information to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for convenient record keeping.

To access your online payment histories, you need Full Access to My TRS Account. To register for Full Access, you need to request a Personal Activation Key (PAK) in order to create a user name and password. You can obtain a PAK in person at the TRS Walk-in Center or you can log in to My TRS Account with your Social Security number and TRS Personal Identification Number (PIN).

If you don’t have a computer at home, you can go to your local library and view your payment history. You can call the UFT at 1-212-598-9536 (retiree pension department) or the TRS at 1-888-8NYCTRS to get an EFT card.

This new Payment History feature should erase the last objection any retiree could have to signing up for EFT and to being safe rather than sorry about a lost check.
