Per-session earnings add up to increased benefits

Thanks to the UFT victory in the Weingarten vs. Board of Education lawsuit, per-session earnings are included in your final average salary when your pension is calculated. The New York City Teachers’ Retirement System had thousands of recalculations to complete because the judge ruled on the lawsuit at the end of 2002, and it included all individuals who retired after Nov. 24, 1998.
