SHIP premium notices for those not on automatic deduction

SHIP premium notices will be sent at the end of December to retirees who have not elected to pay their premium via automatic pension deduction and to new retirees who have not received regular pension checks. Notices will also be sent to those ineligible for pension deduction: lifetime members or BERS retirees. Please wait until you have received a bill before submitting your premium.

Members who have signed the pension deduction authorization card will have their SHIP premiums deducted from their monthly pension checks ($10 per month, per person). The deduction will appear in the column marked “UFT-SHIP.” On Jan. 1, 2007, the premium was increased to $120 per member.
In 1994, the union’s Legislation/Political Action Department succeeded in getting a law passed to allow pension deductions for UFT/NYSUT-sponsored benefits. This method eases the burden of paying the premium, eliminating the need to write checks or to remember due dates.

You are not forced to participate, but it is the most convenient way to pay your SHIP premium.

Please be advised of the SHIP mailing address: Bowling Green Station, P.O. Box 390, New York, NY 10274.
