Join us in class-size fax blitz
Jan 31, 2008 3:32 PM
New York City schools last year received their largest increase in state school aid ever and for the first time the reduction of class sizes in all grades was mandated. While the new reforms were groundbreaking and should be celebrated, they are only the first step.
The 2007 reforms only required New York City to reduce citywide class-size averages. To ensure that every child benefits from class-size reduction, the UFT is urging state lawmakers to support changes in the Contracts for Excellence legislation to require class size reductions in every schoolroom.
Help us continue to get classes down to size by faxing your Albany legislators. Go to the UFT Web site — www.uft.org — and click on “Urge Albany to require smaller classes in every classroom,” under the Action Alert banner.
