Teacher and Educator Discounts

Generic discounts

Many stores and companies offer special discounts to teachers, educators, school-based staff and city employees. Some of these discounts require you to verify your DOE email address; others require valid school or teacher ID. Some of these discounts are only available in stores, not online. Make sure to check with the individual companies if you have questions about how to verify your identity and receive your discount.

Apparel and Accessories

Aerosoles — Teachers get 15% off shoes priced $39.99 or higher with valid teacher ID or a pay stub. In-store or phone orders only.

Ann Taylor LOFT — Sign up for the "LOFT Loves Teachers" program and receive 15% off full-price purchases. Teachers, administrators and counselors are eligible.

Banana Republic — Teachers save 15% off full-priced purchases with valid teacher ID. In-store only.

Bonobos — Teachers get a 15% discount on five orders of men's clothing.

Champion — Teachers get 10% off when shopping online at Champion and Hanes.

Eddie Bauer — Educators save up to 15% by showing proof of employment. Discounts may vary by store. In-store only.

GoRuck.com — Educators save 25% on full-priced gear, accessories and events by verifying their status.

J. Crew — Teachers can save 15% with a valid school ID. In-store only.

Karen Kane — Teachers save 20%.

Madewell — Teachers receive a 15% discount with valid school ID. In-store only.

New York & Company — Sign up for the "Big Apple for the Teacher" program and get 15% off with valid ID, business card or pay stub. In-store only.

Skechers — DOE employees receive 30% off on select Skechers shoes. Shop online and use the code v2PC7B (exactly as shown) or mention the retail code BA3 in stores. For questions, call 855-759-7463 or email info@skechersdirect.com.

Talbots — Teachers save 15% on full-priced purchases with valid teacher ID. In-store only.

Electronics and Software

AT&T — Educators can receive discounts on wireless plans by verifying their DOE emails.

Academic Superstore — Educators can receive discounts on hardware and software by providing a copy of their school ID, a letter of employment on school letterhead, or a copy of a pay stub (you should delete private information like your Social Security number, but leave your name and employer's name).

Adobe — Educators discounts are offered on Photoshop and other products. Educators must provide pay stubs or verification letters on official letterhead.

Apple — All New York City DOE employees, faculty and staff receive up to a 10% discount on all Apple equipment. Academic pricing is also available on software sold through the online store. To take advantage of these discounts, call 1-800-MY APPLE (800-692-7753).

Bose — Educators save up to 15% on music systems and accessories. Call the Sales Solution Team at 1-800-353-4207 and ask for the "Educators' Program" for pricing and to place an order.

Dell — Dell offers discounts (of up to 30% off) on all personal PCs, and select configurations of Dell consumer PCs. To order by phone, call 1-800-695-8133 and mention Member ID# KS29290389 in order to receive the discount.

Lenovo — DOE employees can receive special discounts on purchases by visiting this link.

Microsoft — Teachers are eligible for Office 365 for Education, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Microsoft Teams plus additional classroom tools. You'll need your DOE email address to verify your eligibility. Microsoft also offers up to a 10% discount on Microsoft products and a free Educator Community.

Sprint — Educators can receive discounts on wireless plans by verifying their DOE emails.

T-Mobile — Educators can receive discounts on their monthly bills and additional discounts on smartphones, tablets and wireless hotspots by verifying their DOE emails.

Entertainment

Medieval Times — DOE employees receive up to 40% off at the Medieval Times Dinner Show. Use your DOE email address to register.

New York Comedy Club — Teachers can receive free passes to shows at the New York Comedy Club by emailing teachers@empiretonight.com from their DOE emails.

Theatre Development Fund — All UFT members are eligible to become members of TDF for $35 per year, which gives access to Broadway, Off-Broadway and other ticket offers for less than $45 a ticket. Members must submit a copy of their current UFT card to qualify.

TheaterMania — The Gold Club gives UFT members an exclusive 40 percent discount to join: for $59 a year, theater seats cost just $4.50 a ticket.

Barclays Center — There are special discounts for DOE members for Nets games and other events.

Finances and Banking

Astoria Bank — DOE employees can enroll in Astoria Bank's Workplace Advantage Banking Program at no cost for money-saving benefits. Visit any Astoria Bank branch or call 1-800-ASTORIA.

Citizens Bank — DOE employees can participate in Citizens Bank's Mortgage Employee Benefit Program to receive a $500 credit at closing on a Citizens Bank purchase or refinance mortgage loan and 0.125 percentage points off your mortgage interest rate. Citizens Bank also offers a Student Loan Refinance Program and Financial Wellness Program.

Liberty Mutual — DOE employees can receive savings on auto, home and renters' insurance.

Food

Cheesecake.com — Use the code DLNYDOE to save 15% or call 800-971-3711.

Hershey Store — Teachers save 20% when ordering online.

IT'SUGAR Candy Store — DOE employees get $5 off purchases of $20 or more in stores.

Paris Baguette — DOE employees receive at 10% discount at the 97 Court Street location in Brooklyn with valid ID.

Citi Bike — DOE employees receive $25 off on their first year of Citi Bike annual membership. Enter the code bike2doe and your DOE email address when you register online.

Crunch Gym — DOE employees are eligible for a discounted membership rate after showing their DOE ID or pay stub.

Weight Watchers — DOE employees can receive 50% off the cost of membership. Benefit-eligible dependents also receive discounted pricing.

YogaKids — Educators can save 20% on YogaKids' training program.

A.C. Moore — School-based educators and administrators save 15% with valid school ID.

Barnes & Noble — By signing up for the Educator Program, school employees can save 20% on purchases for classroom use. Educators must present a current school ID or pay stub to enroll.

The Container Store — The Organized Teacher program offers discounts throughout the year to help you organize your classroom. Teachers must present a school ID, teaching certificate or other proof of being a teacher.

Jo-Ann Fabrics — Teachers and childcare providers save 15% in stores and online by enrolling in the teacher rewards program. Teachers must present valid teaching ID and state-issued photo ID in store.

Michael's — Teachers get 15% off with valid ID. In-store only.

Party City — Educators can receive organizational discounts by providing a letter signed by a school officer on official letterhead; purchases must be made with check or credit card in the name of the school. In-store only.

Yoobi — UFT members receive a 25% discount in this partnership. For every Yoobi item purchased, another item is donated to the Kids in Need Foundation or another donation partner for inclusion in a Classroom Pack for schools in need.

Travel

Avis — DOE employees can save up to 25% on car rentals by mentioning "Avis Worldwide Discount #D134106" when making a reservation.

Budget — DOE employees can save up to 25% on car rentals by using Customer Discount Number Z408903 when making a reservation.

Caesars Palace — Teachers receive 10% off stays at Caesars properties.

Hawaiian Airlines — A discount is available to DOE employees traveling between JFK and Hawaii by using the program code NYCDOE when making a reservation.

Hertz — DOE employees can receive up to 15% off rental cars. Use the code CDP#: 1742729 when making a reservation.

Hotel Engine — DOE employees get free membership to Hotel Engine, a members-only booking platform that helps members save an average of 26% at hotels.

Hotelogical — DOE employees get free membership to Hotelogical (a $99 value) to access discounts up to 70% off regular hotel rates.

Orlando Employee Discounts — UFT members can receive discounted pricing on hotels and vacation homes in Orlando and discounts on tickets for Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and Caribbean cruises through Disney and Royal Caribbean.

STA Travel — Teachers can purchase an International Teacher ID Card, which gives them access to travel discounts.

Wyndham Hotel Group — DOE employees are eligible for up to 20% off when making advance reservations by using the corporate ID 1000010476.

Zipcar — DOE employees are eligible for a yearly membership of $35 and discounted driving rates Monday through Friday.

GM — GM offers educator discounts on the purchase or lease of eligible Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicles.
