Many stores and companies offer special discounts to teachers, educators, school-based staff and city employees. Some of these discounts require you to verify your DOE email address; others require valid school or teacher ID. Some of these discounts are only available in stores, not online. Make sure to check with the individual companies if you have questions about how to verify your identity and receive your discount.
Aerosoles — Teachers get 15% off shoes priced $39.99 or higher with valid teacher ID or a pay stub. In-store or phone orders only.
Ann Taylor LOFT — Sign up for the "LOFT Loves Teachers" program and receive 15% off full-price purchases. Teachers, administrators and counselors are eligible.
Banana Republic — Teachers save 15% off full-priced purchases with valid teacher ID. In-store only.
Eddie Bauer — Educators save up to 15% by showing proof of employment. Discounts may vary by store. In-store only.
J. Crew — Teachers can save 15% with a valid school ID. In-store only.
The Limited — Educators receive a 15% discount with valid school ID. In-store only.
Madewell — Teachers receive a 15% discount with valid school ID. In-store only.
New York & Company — Sign up for the "Big Apple for the Teacher" program and get 15% off with valid ID, business card or pay stub. In-store only.
Talbots — Teachers save 15% on full-priced purchases with valid teacher ID. In-store only.
Electronics and Software
AT&T — Educators can receive discounts on wireless plans by verifying their DOE emails.
Academic Superstore — Educators can receive discounts on hardware and software by providing a copy of their school ID, a letter of employment on school letterhead, or a copy of a pay stub (you should delete private information like your Social Security number, but leave your name and employer's name).
Adobe — Educators discounts are offered on Photoshop and other products. Educators must provide pay stubs or verification letters on official letterhead.
Apple — All New York City DOE employees, faculty and staff receive up to a 10% discount on all Apple equipment. Academic pricing is also available on software sold through the online store. To take advantage of these discounts, call 1-800-MY APPLE (800-692-7753).
Bose — Educators save up to 15% on music systems and accessories. Call the Sales Solution Team at 1-800-353-4207 and ask for the "Educator's Program" for pricing and to place an order.
Dell — Dell offers discounts (of up to 30% off) on all personal PCs, and select configurations of Dell consumer PCs. To order by phone, call 1-800-695-8133 and mention Member ID# KS29290389 in order to receive the discount.
Lenovo — DOE employees can receive special discounts on purchases by visiting this link.
Microsoft also offers up to a 10% discount on Microsoft products. To take advantage of these discounts, call 877-696-7786 or visit the Microsoft stores in your area.
Sprint — Educators can receive discounts on wireless plans by verifying their DOE emails.
T-Mobile — Educators can receive discounts on their monthly bills and additional discounts on smartphones, tablets and wireless hotspots by verifying their DOE emails.
Verizon — City employees save 19% on calling plans by verifying their email addresses.
Office and School Supplies
A.C. Moore — School-based educators and administrators save 15% with valid school ID.
Barnes & Noble — By signing up for the Educator Program, school employees can save 20% on purchases for classroom use. Educators must present a current school ID or pay stub to enroll.
The Container Store — The Organized Teacher program offers discounts throughout the year to help you organize your classroom. Teachers must present a school ID, teaching certificate or other proof of being a teacher.
FedEx Office — A National Educators Discount gives teachers, faculty and staff members 15% off.
Jo-Ann Fabrics — Teachers and childcare providers save 15% in stores and online by enrolling in the teacher rewards program. Teachers must present valid teaching ID and state-issued photo ID in store.
Michael's — Teachers get 15% off with valid ID. In-store only.
Office Depot — Pre-K—12th grade classroom teachers who join the Star Teacher program save 20%.
Yoobi — UFT members receive a 25% discount in this partnership. For every Yoobi item purchased, another item is donated to the Kids in Need Foundation or another donation partner for inclusion in a Classroom Pack for schools in need.
Theatre Development Fund — All UFT members are eligible to become members of TDF for $34 per year, which gives access to Broadway, Off-Broadway and other ticket offers for less than $45 a ticket. Members must submit a copy of their current UFT card to qualify.
TheaterMania — The Gold Club gives UFT members an exclusive 40 percent discount to join: for $59 a year, theater seats cost just $4.50 a ticket.
Barclays Center — There are special discounts for DOE members for Nets games and other events.
Health and Fitness
Crunch Gym — DOE employees are eligible for a discounted membership rate after showing their DOE ID or pay stub.
Gold's Gym — At two of its locations (Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach and Livingston Street in Brooklyn), Gold's Gym offers DOE employees a discounted rate. For more information, call (718) 845-4653.

Bloomberg Businessweek — Educators can subscribe to Bloomberg Businessweek magazine at 85% off, or 26 issues for $20.
New York Times — K-12 teachers are eligible for a discount of 12 weeks for $5 and $1.88 a week thereafter.

Hawaiian Airlines — A discount is available to DOE employees traveling between JFK and Hawaii by using the program code NYCDOE when making a reservation.
STA Travel — Teachers can purchase an International Teacher ID Card, which gives them access to travel discounts.
Wyndham Hotel Group — DOE employees are eligible for up to 20% off when making advance reservations by using the corporate ID 1000010476.
Zipcar — DOE employees are eligible for a yearly membership of $35 and discounted driving rates Monday through Friday.

StuyTown Apartments – Through the Preferred Employers Program, DOE employees receive a package of benefits when applying for an apartment at Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, including waived application fees and a reduced security deposit.
