  • Sunday, March 4: Tickets are on sale for a sensory-friendly performance of Aladdin on Broadway at 1 p.m. at the New Amsterdam Theatre, 214 W. 42nd St. in Manhattan. This is a special performance for people with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental or cognitive disabilities. Tickets cost between $56 and $79. Find out more »


  • Apply for scholarship money from the UFT: Each year, the UFT awards more than $1 million in college scholarship money to academically excellent and financially eligible public school students. Time is running out to apply for a $5,000 scholarship from the UFT Albert Shanker College Scholarship Fund before the deadline of Jan. 31. Learn more and apply »
  • Apply for a scholarship from the African-American/Caribbean Education Association: The African-American/Caribbean Education Association Inc. is accepting applications for scholarship awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. There are four scholarship awards — the Mildred Collins Nursing/Health Science/Medicine Scholarship; the William Samber, Sr. "Original Tuskegee Airman" Aviation/Math and Science Scholarship; the Honorable Ernestine Washington Library Science/English Language Arts Scholarship; and the Community Service Scholarship. Each scholarship has different eligibility requirements and a separate application, but all have a deadline of May 1. To learn more and apply, visit the website »
  • Summer internships for high school students at the Department of Design and Construction: The New York City Department of Design and Construction is looking for 30 New York City high school students to intern full-time at the department this summer. This is a great opportunity for students interested in architecture, engineering, building trades, public administration, business administration or information technology to gain work and academic experience.
