Queens Parent Newsletter - November 2017

Dear parents, grandparents, guardians and education activists,

Save the date for the next UFT Queens parent workshop from the UFT Queens parent outreach committee and Hey There Beautiful, a nonprofit that supports and empowers women and girls through education, motivation, self-awareness and self-development. The workshop will be on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. at the UFT Queens borough office, 97-77 Queens Blvd. It will be the third in a workshop series about building confidence and a strong relationship with your children. I'll be in touch with registration information soon.

  • Sunday, Dec. 3: Don't miss HopeNYC's Christmas Parade on Rockaway Boulevard starting at 5 p.m. The parade will run from 131st Street to 143rd Street and will culminate in a Christmas tree lighting. See the website »
  • Monday, Dec. 4: ADAPT Community Network will host a free workshop for parents about children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and dating from 10 a.m. to noon at 365 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.   • Thursday, Dec. 14: New York State Sen. James Sanders Jr. will host a job and resource fair for people over the age of 55 who are looking for work and job training. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Jamaica Multi-Service Center, 114-92 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. For details, see the event listing »
  • Thursday, Dec. 21 and Friday, Dec. 22: There will be Harlem MagicMasters Basketball Shows at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on both days at York College Gymnasium.
