LearnUFT courses in Brooklyn

LearnUFT courses are now available at the UFT's Brooklyn borough office! The fee to register is $30 per course for teachers and $15 per course for paraprofessionals. Participants will receive two CTLE hours per course. In order to ensure that you are not signing up for a course you have already registered for or attended, please check to be sure you are registering for the correct session.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, educators will gain valuable questioning strategies to promote students' thinking and learning, learn what constitutes quality questioning and effective discussion in order to actively engage students in productive discourse and understand how to create structures so that all students are able to answer and ask quality questions.     In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, educators will develop an understanding of autism spectrum disorder and behaviors associated within the spectrum, employ instructional strategies to engage students and address educational needs, and understand the role of the educator in supporting students with autism spectrum disorder. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, educators will examine beliefs about home language and culture to ensure the whole child comes into the classroom, consider the value of strengthening the child's first language to foster learning and develop proficiency in English, and explore strategies to scaffold instruction for children in the classroom in order to increase access to content. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.
