LearnUFT courses in Brooklyn

LearnUFT courses are now available at the UFT's Brooklyn borough office! The fee to register is $30 per course for teachers and $15 per course for paraprofessionals. Participants will receive two CTLE hours per course. In order to ensure that you are not signing up for a course you have already registered for or attended, please check to be sure you are registering for the correct session.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore the six models of co-teaching and consider how flexibility in teaching strategies can enhance student learning outcomes. Participants will also utilize a variety of instructional practices to strengthen the co-teaching partnership. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will describe the various student attributes for their designated language proficiency levels, use the New Language Progressions to design instruction for ELL students and incorporate strategies to increase interaction and critical thinking for ELL students. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

  • Empowering Parents in the Treatment of Child Trauma (Social Worker CE Course)
    May 16, 2019 - 4:30pm - 6:30pm

    This workshop for social workers will present empirical research on how parents can help or hinder their child's recovery from trauma. Participants will compare how three widely used, evidence-based child trauma treatment models view the possibilities of engaging parents in the child's recovery from trauma in very different ways.

    May 23, 2019 - 4:00pm - 6:00pm

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Brooklyn teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore strategies for engaging students in historical thinking using arts aligned tools to build historical awareness. Participants will also analyze multiple sources in order to make claims as they interpret historical events. Two CTLE hours will be offered.
