WHEREAS, the United Federation of Teachers has a rich and proud history of standing up for civil and human rights, promoting issues of fair pay, safe working conditions, health care and equal rights free from discrimination on the basis of race, creed, gender, color, national origin or sexual orientation; and
WHEREAS, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan; therefore be it
RESOLVED that the United Federation of Teachers participate in the 2013 Gay Pride March to be celebrated on June 30, 2013 beginning at 36th Street and 5th Avenue at 11 a.m.
