Resolution for initiative on voter registration
April 19, 2017
The United Federation of Teachers will embark on a voter-registration drives for eligible New York City High School students and others eligible to vote in New York City; the UFT will seek to work with our community and civil rights partners to increase voter education, registration and participation; the UFT will educate, assist and empower those in New York City who are not eligible to vote on matters regarding individual rights and safety as well as roles and responsibilities of active citizen engagement.

Resolution in support of health care for all
April 19, 2017
The UFT calls for improving the health care safety net, including protecting and improving Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.

Resolution to support JHS 145
March 22, 2017
The UFT will continue to take a public stance against the closing of JHS 145.

Resolution in support of juvenile justice reform in New York State
March 22, 2017
The United Federation of Teachers will work with coalition partners, community groups and our membership to raise the age at which adolescents are sentenced as adults in New York State to 18.

Resolution in support of immigrant new Yorkers

The UFT will continue to work with the DOE and the City of New York to inform, assist, and protect immigrant families.

The UFT will continue to advocate to end the policy of distributive scoring of Regents exams.

Resolution endorsing Tom Brown for re-election to the New York City Teachers' Retirement Board

The UFT endorse Thomas M. Brown for re-election as a Teacher- Member of the Teachers’ Retirement Board of the City of New York for a three-year term beginning in 2017.

Resolution in support of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and the undocumented immigrants it protects
February 8, 2017
The UFT will advocate on behalf of UFT members and New York City public schools students who could face deportation or separation from family members due to deportation as a result of the reversal of DACA.

Resolution for the creation of cafeterias and lounges for UFT members at every public school
January 18, 2017
The UFT will support chapter leaders, delegates and school communities in their endeavors to establish cafeterias and/or lounges dedicated to UFT members in unused, available spaces in schools.
