June 2022 stipends for chapter leaders

Chapter leaders are the backbone of the UFT. It is you who have helped members navigate this challenging school year, reported and resolved safety and operational issues at the school level; and motivated and mobilized members into the powerful force that we are. All chapter leaders received a base stipend earlier in the school year but chapter leaders who qualify will receive a second stipend check at the end of June to show our appreciation for participating in union activities and spurring member engagement.

You will receive points for having 100% union membership; holding regular chapter meetings and consultation meetings with the principal; attending the Delegate Assembly and district representative meetings; encouraging members to participate in COPE; logging in to the new Chapter Leader Hub; and, having active school-based committees. You will receive an additional payment ranging from $250 to $1,000 based on the number of points you accrued this school year from your leadership efforts.

  • 90 - 95: 3 points

  • 9 = 7 points

Delegate Assemblies

  • Everyone will get 7 points, the maximum

COPE

Percentage of your school chapter's membership that contribute to COPE

  • 50-59%: 3 points
  • 60-69%: 4 points
  • 70-79%: 5 points
  • 80-89%: 6 points
  • 90-100%: 7 points

Total points scale:

  • 15 to 19 points: $250
  • 20 to 24 points: $500
  • 25 to 27 points: $750
  • 28+ points: $1,000
