Liza Weinstein submits her UFT membership card to her grandfather, UFT Treasurer Mel Aaronson, on March 21, continuing what is a proud family tradition. “I always knew I wanted to become a teacher,” Weinstein said. “I’m definitely following in my grandpa’s footsteps and he’s always loved the profession. He brought me to union rallies since I was young.” Weinstein has also been a volunteer at the holiday party for homeless children thrown by the UFT and the Coalition for the Homeless, as well as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks. “This is one of the proudest days of my life,” said Aaronson.
