This October, the UFT will again participate in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraising walks at locations throughout the city on Sunday, Oct. 20.

Last year, the UFT, along with NYSUT, helped raise over $1 million for the American Cancer Society to support breast cancer research, advocacy and patient services.

If you’d like members from your chapter or school to walk together as a team, create a team on the Strides website.

How to create a team

You can sign up and create a team in just a few steps:

• Go to www.uft.org/strides
• Click "Join Us" and enter your zip code
• Select the location where your team will be walking
• Click "Join This Walk"
• Log in or click "Create an Account" if you don't already have one
• Click "Start a New Team"
• Name your team: Include “UFT” at the beginning of your team name so your members can easily find it on a list, and choose “UFT” as the team company (we are in the regional section of the dropdown menu)
• Complete the rest of the signup process

When members from your school or chapter sign up, they’ll be able to choose “Join a Team” and select the team you created.

On the day of the walk, please send your best photo (choose "large" size if sending from your phone — with information about who is in the photo so we can write a caption) to uftphotos@gmail.com so we post it on our Instagram account or in a photo album on Facebook. If you use Twitter, remember to tag your photos with the #StridesUFT hashtag on the day of the walk.
