At a membership meeting in the Bronx on Jan. 21, 2015, Sara Shumway of the DOE's Office of Academic Policy and Systems presented a slideshow on policy for school guidance counselors.
Questions after the slideshow included the following:
Q: How is a school’s quality report affected by students exiting with Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) commencement credentials?
A: These students are not treated as graduates because they did not graduate with a diploma. If a student with an IEP earns only a CDOS credential and not a CDOS as an endorsement to a Regents diploma, that is counted against the school because the student had the opportunity to graduate and did not.
