Let the music play

The D’Addario Foundation provides monetary and product support to high-quality sustainable music instruction programs on the frontline to improve access to music education. Average grant is $2,500. Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations and public schools. Preference is given to programs that bring music back into communities and schools, and those that get kids playing as early and as frequently as possible.

Science conference stipend

The National Science Teachers Association requests applications for the Shell Urban Science Educators Development Award. The award provides support to outstanding diverse educators in pursuit of professional development, active participation at the NSTA National Conference on Science Education and committees that transitions into leadership roles, and serves to increase the science educator talent pool of minority educators to meet the education workforce challenge of the future. Funds: $1,800 award to be used to attend the annual NSTA National Conference on Science Education. Eligibility: K–12 science teachers in an urban setting. Classroom science teachers at the elementary, middle or high school level who are part of underrepresented ethnic groups are eligible.

Items for your classroom

The Association of American Educators is looking for applications for the Classroom Grant program. The program provides support for a variety of projects and materials, including — but not limited to — books, software, calculators, math manipulatives, art supplies, audiovisual equipment and lab materials. Funds: Grants up to $500. Eligibility: Full-time educators who have not received a scholarship or grant from AAE in the past two years.

Run for your money

The Road Runners Club of America is accepting applications for the Kids Run the Nation Fund 2016. The fund assists running clubs, events and schools that are interested in implementing or currently have a youth running program. Funds range from $500 to $1,000. Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations, running clubs and elementary or middle schools that provide an organized after-school running program. Areas: The running program should be more than just a one-time event. It should be a structured running program that ideally utilizes the RRCA youth running materials. The goal of the program is to have kids running regularly, at least once a week for multiple weeks, as opposed to participating in a single event. However, the program may culminate in participation at a kid’s race.
