Message from the Chapter Leader: Cecilia Cortez
I want to welcome everyone back to school. I hope you all had a restful and relaxing summer.
With the new school year underway, I want to assure you that I as your UFT chapter leader and the UFT are here to support you.
There are in place this year, including a new evaluation system for classroom teachers and the new Common Core curriculum.
In order to support you, the UFT has created the web pages highlighted in the above paragraph to keep you abreast of all the changes. Please also keep an eye on UFT.org and on the New York Teacher for stories about the new evaluation system and the Common Core Learning Standards.
The UFT will also be providing workshops in all the boroughs on the new evaluation system. Please check the UFT home page as well as the HES chapter website for the latest information
To make sure you are getting important information that you need, be sure to sign up on the UFT website right now. By signing in, you will enter your email into our system to receive emails from me and other UFT officials about important developments. Signing up is easy. Just go to the UFT homepage and click on the sign in button at the very top of the page.
