We are happy to let you know about additional positions for school social workers and psychologists for school-based Committee on Special Education (CSE) SBST teams for the current school year. It’s the first time since 1988 that the DOE has added new positions, thanks to a special allocation of funding from the City Council.
For this school year, these positions will be used in schools with the highest caseloads. In the spring, for the first time ever, new allocations of school social workers and psychologists will be added to the clustering process. These new positions should begin to alleviate some of the workload issues that psychologists and social workers have faced for many years.
Â
Keep in mind that these new positions are for the 2015–16 school year only. At the end of June, 2016, the position ends and if you do not find a new position, you will go into excess.

If you currently serve on a school-based CSE or a borough-based CSE, you will need to be released by your principal/CSE chair before you can accept one of the new positions.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 30.
