A growth mindset is something I wanted to focus on from Day One. I introduced the idea of a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset to my students via a PowerPoint presentation and a fun video. We discussed what people with a fixed mindset might say ("This is too hard," "I can't do it," etc.). Then, I asked them to write in the speech bubbles what people with a growth mindset might say. They came up with some pretty amazing ideas and were so excited that something they wrote would be going up on an anchor chart. It's currently the first thing students see when they walk in the door as a reminder that they can do anything they set their minds to!
