2% pay increase, retro coming in early fall

The first rate increases under the new UFT/Department of Education contract are taking effect this fall.

The contract featured a 1 percent pay increase retroactive to May 1, 2013, and another 1 percent pay increase retroactive to May 1, 2014.

For in-service teachers and other pedagogues, paraprofessionals, sub paraprofessionals and paraprofessionals’ per-session pay, both the salary adjustments and the corresponding retroactive payments will be in the Sept. 30 paychecks. This paycheck will also include the additional $2,000 increase to the 1A and 1B steps of the teacher salary schedule effective Sept. 1, 2014.

For in-service occupational and physical therapists, school nurses and education analysts, officers and administrators, the rate increases and retro will be in their Sept. 26 paychecks.

Salary adjustments and corresponding retroactive payments for per session and per-diem work for pedagogues will be processed on Oct. 3, 2014.

For in-service employees, salary adjustments and corresponding retroactive payments will be processed as follows:
