Dear parents, grandparents, guardians and education activists,
I'm excited to start another great year of working with you for public school families!
Thank you to the wonderful parent volunteers and UFT members who donated much-needed school supplies to our brother and sister schools in Puerto Rico. As educators in Puerto Rico work to make the best of what is still a very bad situation, your support means a lot. The pencils, notebooks and highly sought-after highlighters we delivered in August courtesy of the UFT anti-bullying BRAVE and Dial-a-Teacher programs were hugely appreciated at schools in Vega Alta, Vega Baja and Morovis on the island.
At Urbana Elemental in Vega Alta, we were welcomed with open arms. The principal, 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Rosado and her students sent a big thank-you to students from Luis Muños Rivera School in District 10 for their kind and thoughtful letters.
