The UFT's BRAVE campaign will be holding a workshop called Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying: An Introduction to the Dignity for All Students Act.
On July 1, 2012, the Dignity for All Students act (DASA) went into effect, amending New York State education law. DASA seeks to provide all students attending public schools (pre-K-12) across the state of New York with safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments free from the social and emotional harm of discrimination, harassment and bullying.
This workshop will provide participants with an overview of DASA, including:
- Reporting responsibilities of school personnel
- Components of harassment and bullying
- Microaggressions
Please note: This workshop is not the six-hour class for New York State DASA certification. It is intended for veteran teachers who do not need DASA certification but wish to familiarize themselves with the law.
This workshop will be offered on the following dates:

UFT headquarters, 50 Broadway, 2nd floor, room C
