Bill Thompson, the UFT’s choice for mayor, released a new 30-second TV ad featuring testimonials from family members, parents and teachers.
“My grandmother was a teacher,” says Jennifer Thompson, the candidate’s daughter. “I was a teacher, too.” She goes on to say she’s proud her father is endorsed by New York City’s teachers and principals.
Bill Thompson’s mother was a New York City public school teacher for 30 years, most of that time at PS 262 in Bedford Stuyvesant, and the candidate himself was a product of the public schools.
Several teachers give their endorsement in the TV spot, saying he’ll make the right choices for public school children.
“Bill Thompson will fix schools in poor and minority neighborhoods, NOT close them,” says Jennifer Thompson.
And the candidate concludes: “Let's give every child a great education so they can build a better life.”
