The salaries of UFT-represented Department of Education employees will increase by 3% effective May 14.

The increase will first be reflected in the May 28 paycheck for pedagogues, H-bank employees and all paraprofessionals. Pedagogues who work per diem or per session will see the 3% pay rate in the June 2 paycheck.

The first paychecks that include the raise will also include arrears reflecting the increases back to May 14.

This increase will be the final pay increase negotiated as part of the 2018 DOE-UFT contract.

Also, as part of the prior 2014 DOE-UFT contract, eligible UFT-represented employees will receive in July the final lump-sum payment of the increased take-home pay they would have earned had they received 4% raises in 2009 and 2010. With this payment of 12.5% of the overall total, eligible members will have received 100% of the money they were owed.

Members should have received the final lump-sum payment of 25% in October 2020, but City Hall claimed it could not meet the obligation due to the pandemic. The UFT took the city to arbitration and an arbitrator ruled that members should receive half of the 25% last fall and the final half this July.
