A resolution to endorse eight candidates for elected office was overwhelmingly approved by the Delegate Assembly at its remote meeting on March 24.

The delegates voted to support borough president candidates Vanessa Gibson for the Bronx and Brad Hoylman for Manhattan, and City Council candidates Stacy Lynch for District 7 in Manhattan, Marjorie Velazquez for District 13 in the Bronx, Rafael Salamanca Jr. for District 17 in the Bronx, Austin Shafran for District 19 in Queens, Linda Lee for District 23 in Queens and Nantasha Williams for District 27 in Queens.

The delegates also approved a resolution endorsing the candidacy of David Kazansky for reelection to the New York City Teachers’ Retirement Board.

The delegates also called for the cancellation of the administration of the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSELAT) this school year. The U.S. Department of Education, however, rejected New York State’s waiver application so the exam will be administered to those English language learners who can test in person. The deadline for the administration of all components of the exam was extended to June 9.
