No blanket testing exemption for District 75 students

News Stories

The following email was sent on Friday, Oct. 2, to all District 75 members from District 75 Representative David Doorga.

In a Sept. 30 letter to staff and a tweet on Friday morning, the DOE wrongly stated that District 75 students would be exempt from the city's mandatory COVID-19 testing program in schools that begins next week. The DOE has since acknowledged its error and will amend the letter.

To clarify, there is no blanket exemption from random testing for District 75 students. Our students will be part of the monthly testing of a random sample of staff and students in every school building. Exemptions will be granted to students on a case-by-case basis, as they are for mask-wearing in District 75.

See the union's FAQ on testing and tracing for more information about the testing program.

Thank you all for your hard work in these difficult first weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
