UFT members are asked to support Hillary Clinton, the candidate that the AFT, the UFT’s national union, has endorsed in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, April 19.
There are also two special elections for vacant Assembly seats on April 19, the same day as the state’s presidential primary.
UFT members are asked to support Yuh-Line Niou, who is running on the Working Families Party line in lower Manhattan’s 65th Assembly District for the position formerly held by Sheldon Silver. Niou is the former chief of staff to Assemblyman Ronald Kim.
The union is also supporting Jaime Williams, who is vying for the seat in the 59th Assembly District in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Williams is chief of staff for Sen. Roxanne Persaud who formerly held that Assembly seat.
The endorsements for State Assembly were made by the New York State United Teachers, the UFT’s state affiliate.
