UFT members are asked to support Jaime Williams and Yuh-Line Niou for the state Assembly in the special election on Tuesday, April 19, the same day as the state’s presidential primary.

Niou will be running in lower Manhattan’s 65th Assembly District for the position formerly held by Sheldon Silver. Niou is the former chief of staff to Assemblyman Ronald Kim.

Williams is vying for the seat in the 59th Assembly District in Canarsie, Brooklyn. He is chief of staff for Sen. Roxanne Persaud who formerly held that Assembly seat.

The endorsements were made by the New York State United Teachers, the UFT’s state affiliate.
