Dear parents, grandparents, guardians and education activists,

Save the date for next fall's 10th annual UFT Brooklyn parent conference on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PS 140 at 141 Macon St. Directions »

  • Wednesday, June 19: Henry Street Settlement's Intern & Earn program invites young adults between the ages of 17 and 24 who are not working or in school to an information session and hiring event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 99 Essex St. in Manhattan. Get a $15/hr paid internship with job training, connections to high school equivalency classes and more. Learn more and register »

  • Thursday, June 20: Come to story play at Crown Heights Library, 560 New York Ave., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years will enjoy stories, rhymes and hands-on activities. See the event listing »

  • Friday, June 21: The NYC Parks Department will host Movies Under the Stars: Celebration of Modern Caribbean Cinema from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Prospect Park on the Lincoln Road Lawn near the Lincoln Road and Ocean Avenue entrance. Bring a picnic to this free screening of seven short Caribbean films. See the event listing »

News you can use

  • Free summer meals at Brooklyn libraries: Kids and teens are welcome to get free breakfasts and lunches Monday through Friday all summer long at 1,200 sites across the city, including Brooklyn libraries and parks. There is no enrollment, documentation or ID required. This service will start on Thursday, June 27, and run through Friday, Aug. 30. Find a location near you »
