I disagree with the proposed changes to the specialized high schools’ admissions process [“Fairer admissions sought for specialized high schools,” June 26]. The replacement of objective standards by subjective standards will not make admissions to the city specialized high schools any fairer. It will appease the politically correct left by increasing the number of less-qualified students at the expense of more-qualified students who will not be admitted. It will accomplish the single goal of racial balance at the expense of academic excellence.
