I was happy to read about the proposal to amend admissions policies for specialized high schools. It’s about the person, not a test score.

I’ve had several wonderful, well-rounded, motivated students miss out on attending Staten Island Tech by one point. Also, so many parents pay hundreds, even thousands, of dollars for tutors and test-prep courses for these schools because it’s all about the test.

Please pass this bill ASAP. Bring in those students whose potential cannot be measured by a test.
