Could you imagine what the city would say if the UFT closed the schools for a day to march in protest against what is occurring in schools throughout the city with regard to class size and other problems?
The Bloomberg administration and Joe Lhota would be in an uproar.
Eva Moskowitz should thank the UFT for supporting Scott Stringer against her for the position of Manhattan borough president years ago. Her loss to Stringer allowed her move to greener pastures with her charter schools. Financially, this has proven to be a windfall for her.
If Eva Moskowitz wants to take space for her schools in public school buildings and pay no rent, she should be forced to take half of the students with discipline problems that the school in that building has. Right now, charter schools have the luxury of removing disruptive pupils who then go to public schools. Public schools don’t have that option.
