My school had to excess four teachers last year because we were “underenrolled.” I went from 28-30 kids per class to 30-34 kids per class in a middle school.
Honestly, I don’t think our contractual limits are low enough. We know class size matters, and it should be capped at 25-27 students. When I taught fewer students, I was more effective for them. More kids equals less time per kid.
