It’s obvious what the DOE is trying to do with Benjamin Cardozo HS [see “DOE wants Cardozo HS to pay for Tweed blunder” on page 7]. Force our large schools to fail. Break them up into smaller schools. Insert a few for-profit charters in the same building. Fire all tenured teachers. Voila! Instant total control.

It’s been the same cycle for the past 12 years. It has happened in all boroughs; now it’s Queens’ turn. Watch out Francis Lewis HS, Forest Hills HS, Bayside HS ... the same fate awaits.
