A tale of two schools

New York Teacher

I’ve just read Michael Mulgrew’s Jan. 15 New York Daily News editorial “Charter Schools: Time for a Change.” Every year I watch the charter in my public school take more and more classrooms. They get to cap their classes and keep numbers low while the kids whose classrooms have been taken are split apart and squished into some of the largest class sizes we’ve ever had.

I have nothing against the charter school idea — but all schools must be treated equally in terms of space, supplies and funding.
