I read President Mulgrew’s column “Our strength in challenging times” [Dec. 1] and was so moved. My inner core after this presidential election is very sad and tender.

I have been feeling as if our country as we know it will soon come to an end. President Mulgrew’s dynamic and inspiring column has given me hope. “It’s not over yet!” But we must do as he says if we are to weather the next four years and emerge stronger and wiser despite them.

We, as the United Federation of Teachers, must continue doing what is best for our students, making sure that they and their parents realize our intent and dedication.
