To the Editor:

I would recommend that everyone obtain a copy of, or view, the commencement address by the president of the School of Visual Arts in New York City to the graduating class of 2013. [It can be viewed at http://www.sva.edu, starting at the 25-minute mark.] He eloquently speaks of mayoral control and testing. It’s very powerful.

Also, let’s encourage all teachers, parents and students to keep a testing journal so we all can see how much instructional time is lost to standardized assessments.
