It is illogical to believe that teachers can’t be removed because of tenure. The formula is simple: Tenure is due process. Due process is supposed to protect an educator’s right to free speech and thought. Think about that for a moment. We are charged with teaching our children to think critically. How can we manage this incredible feat without being able to think critically ourselves and to speak out on issues without fear of reprisal?
