This is being done by politicians at the behest of their huge donors, thanks to the Citizens United ruling. It is a scary time, and we should beat them back by staying united and staying active every chance we get.

This is not just a UFT or teachers’ problem. Most people do not realize that unions made it possible for workers to have paid vacations, 40-hour workweeks, health benefits, free public education and worker safety rules. Our unions must start to sell people on the idea that management wants workers to earn lower wages and to become beholden to them. People need to wake up and join a union to preserve and fight for their rights.
