A worthy proposal

New York Teacher

I'm sure there's some room for negotiation regarding the UFT's call to end tax breaks for absentee co-op and condo owners to cut class sizes to 15. But even if we could lower class size to 20 in kindergarten through 3rd grades, the results would be dramatic.

High-needs students would receive the individual attention that they need to be on track for the upper grades. It may even eliminate the need for some AIS services and possibly could save some students from requiring special education services. One of the best ideas I've heard from Michael Mulgrew in a long while. This is the fight we need to be involved in.
