Dear Colleagues,

On May 6, the Federation of Nurses/UFT hosted our second annual Nurse Recognition Day Celebration recognizing the work of all our nurses.

Examples of the extraordinary work done by the diverse nursing leaders we represent were provided at the event. During these challenging times, the role of the nurse is to fight for the highest-quality care for each and every person we serve. Without a doubt, patient advocacy is our greatest responsibility.

Awards were presented to the following nurses:

Homecare Nurse of the Year— Joyce Lowman, VNSNY
Hospital Nurse of the Year — Robert Cain, LMC
Retiree Nurse of the Year — Rosamund Elbourne, VNSNY
Trailblazer Award — Lila Shams, LMC

The award recipients each praised the union for giving them the strength to advocate for their patients.
